Gameweek 11 Team Reveal and Transfer Plans

This season, I just can’t get a handle on it.

Gameweek 10 review

43 points (against an average of 39) was nothing special but I was my own worst enemy!

Firstly, so many points on the bench. Rogers with a goal and Harwood-Bellis with a cleansheet. To be fair, I could have hedged my bets in defence rather than the City double up but it’s paid off well in other weeks.

As for Rogers, it was a toss up between him and Smith-Rowe and I thought Brentford at home was a better fixture than Spurs away. I was right in terms of the match result but that’s not how FPL works. Rogers scored Villa’s solitary goal in a 4-1 loss and bagged himself a cool 9 points.

The most painful bit was Solanke though. I’ve stuck with him from day one, even when out with injury for a while but his goal return has been slow and steady. Then I transfer him out, admittedly for Cunha who is someone I want medium to long term, and what does he do…score 2 and get 3 bonus points. Thanks Dom!

Spurs also face Ipswich at home, an obvious fixture to target. Perhaps I should have known better but when those sorts of calls don’t go your way, you start to wonder if it’s just not your year.

Enough moaning, the rest of the team performed ok. Son started but only managed 55 minutes but hopefully he’ll be the main man against Ipswich, not Solanke.

Palmer looked quiet against Man United but he’s a long term hold for me given the fixtures for Chelsea.

Haaland continues his great form with a another blank. I’m at the point where I’ve 90% decided to transfer him out on Wildcard next week but also expecting a similar event as with Dom Solanke. As soon as I switch out Haaland, he’ll start banging them in. More on my Haaland thoughts later though.

Gameweek 11 team and transfers

Last week’s transfer failed miserably but I’m not too disappointed with how my team looks this week..

This week, I’m probably not moving at all, let alone early. However, I have my eye on Wolves players. I want both Cunha and Aït-Nouri. With 1 free transfer this week, any change will delay my designs to get Salah in. Wildcard in game week 12 could be the solution.

Lewis and Gvardiol are both at risk for minutes being taken by Walker but given my other defensive options, the double up is necessary. Given Brighton’s attack (Mitoma on the left) I expect Lewis to be benched for the solidity that Walker gives against wingers.

Crystal Palace defence is poor so Robinson looks decent for an attacking return.

Rogers showed last week that even in a sizeable loss, an attacker can score well but I think Liverpool are a bit stronger defensively than Spurs so he stays on my bench.

Palmer is flagged so I’m keeping an eye on the news but expect he’ll be good for the Arsenal game – it’s a tough one given Arsenal’s defence but at the same time they’ve not looked great. Odegaard is back it seems, after getting minutes midweek in Europe, which makes Arsenal a lot stronger. He’s a long term hold given the Chelsea fixtures but this is unlikely to be a high scoring week for Palmer.

I’ve popped the captaincy on Son, finally betting against Haaland as captain. It’s a worry because City don’t tend to stay in bad form for long and the chances are being created…not to mention that De Bruyne is on his way back and so likely to create more for Haaland. Son is also coming back from injury so may not get 90 minutes which is a worry.

Vardy is the controversial one. Man United have looked better and more solid since Ten Hag was sacked but still conceding chances. United away for Leicester isn’t great on paper but I don’t need Leicester to win, just Vardy to return. I think it’s worth it above Rogers against Liverpool.

I’m probably not going to do any transfers this week. Next week I’m likely going to Wildcard so part of me thinks to go for a punt this week then Wildcard whoever it is out. Some of my potential punts are to swap out Lewis (who may not play) for either Porro or Dalot but neither are too inspiring.

Upfront, I could swap out Vardy for Højlund, Wissa or maybe even Evanilson. All of these are punts and aren’t a huge upgrade for the one week so I’m likely to leave it as is.

Conclusion

Overall I’m thinking of holding out for 1 more week without a change given the lack of exciting 1 week punts in my opinion. Wildcard almost certainly incoming and probably a Haaland to Salah switch – watch this space.
