FPL Gameweek 28 Roundup

FPL Gameweek Roundup: Diamonds, Disappointments, and Unexpected Haulers

The Premier League never ceases to thrill, does it? Well, neither does Fantasy Premier League (FPL)! This gameweek brought more drama, more suspense, and if you played your cards right, more points! Let’s dive into the hits and misses of this gameweek.

The Magnificent Salah

Once again, Salah (owned by a whopping 72.99% of FPL managers) delivered on expectations with a majestic performance netting 2 goals with an impressive xG of 1.96. Scoring 2 goals more than expected, Salah graciously bagged 15 points, living up to his ownership rate.

Cucurella Shines Bright

Proving a surprising delight this gameweek, Cucurella, owned by a slim 8.43% of FPL managers, brought in an astounding 15 points after scoring one goal. His xG of 0.09 shows he outstripped expectations, providing luckier managers a pleasant surprise.

The Let-Downs

High ownership isn’t always indicative of game success, as we saw with Palmer, who is held by a strong 59.28% of managers. Expected to score at least a goal (xG: 1.05), he failed to find the net, resulting in a disappointing tally of just 1 point. Similar fates befell Isak and Wood, delivering 2 points each despite being owned by over 45% of FPL managers.

Red & Yellow

Disciplinary issues can wreck a good FPL score, a harsh reality experienced by managers owning Robinson. Despite being in the lineups of 24.48% of teams, a yellow card left his score at a disappointing 0.

The Hidden Gems

For those managers who wisely put their faith in Aina and Muñoz, rewards were plenty. Both players, owned by less than 30% of teams, gathered an impressive 6 points each.

Key Moments

Watkins exceeded his xG (0.56) by scoring a crucial goal leading him to win 3 bonus points, accumulating a total of 9 points. Similarly, João Pedro (xG: 1.12) and Raúl (xG:0.58) both netted a goal each, ending up with a healthy 9 and 8 points respectively.

Remember, the FPL is not a sprint, it’s a marathon, and every gameweek is a new opportunity. Keep an eye out for the outperformers, watch the underdogs, and always, always keep up the banter in your mini-leagues. Till next week, keep managing!
