Master the New FPL Assistant Manager Chip: Your Guide to FPL’s Big Feature
What Is the Assistant Manager Chip?
Ever wanted to channel your inner Arne Slot or Mikel Arteta in Fantasy Premier League (FPL)? Well, now you can! The brand-new Assistant Manager chip—formerly called the Mystery Chip—lets you pick a real Premier League manager to earn points for you.
Starting from Gameweek 24 in January, this exciting addition is playable for three consecutive Gameweeks whenever you choose.
How Does It Work?
When you activate the Assistant Manager chip:
- Select one Premier League manager.
- Earn points based on their team’s performance over three Gameweeks.
You’ll score points for the following:
- Team wins: +6 points
- Draws: +3 points
- Goals scored: +1 point per goal
- Clean sheets: +2 points
- Table bonus: Earn an additional 10 points for a win or 5 points for a draw against teams ranked five or more places higher at the start of the Gameweek.
Note: You can’t captain your Assistant Manager, but you can switch managers during the three-Gameweek window at the cost of a transfer.
Strategic Tips for Using the Assistant Manager Chip
1. Back the Big Boys
Choose a top manager like Liverpool’s Arne Slot or Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta to rack up points from wins, goals, and clean sheets during an easy fixture run.
2. Chase the Table Bonus
For risk-takers, target managers from mid-table teams. Managers like Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, who’s already excelled against bigger sides this season, could help you bag big table-bonus points.
3. Double Gameweeks (DGWs)
Save the chip for a DGW to maximize your returns. If a manager’s team plays twice in a Gameweek, you’ll have the chance to earn points from four matches over three weeks!
What About Manager Prices?
Managers will cost between £0.5m and £1.5m, and you’ll need to fit this into your existing budget. The official price list will be revealed soon, so start planning! Final Thoughts: When Should You Use the Chip?
Timing is everything with the Assistant Manager chip. While it’s tempting to use it early to capitalize on the tight league table, saving it for DGWs or key fixtures could yield massive points.
Experiment with strategies and see how this new chip fits into your game. Whether you go bold with table-bonus punts or play it safe with top-tier managers, the Assistant Manager chip adds a new level of excitement to FPL!
