Gameweek 8 Team Reveal and Transfer Plans

Another week of FPL drama, and Gameweek 8 is fast approaching. Like many managers, I’ve been frustrated with Haaland’s recent blanks and Saka’s injury scare after his impressive haul. With only one free transfer, I’m torn between sticking with Luis Diaz or finally bringing in Mbeumo, especially with his penalty duties. As for captaincy, Haaland stays my pick due to Wolves’ shaky defense. If you’re also struggling with team selection or transfer dilemmas, drop me a message @FPLwithStu on X and let’s tackle it together!

Gameweek 7 review

51 points (against an average of 46) was ok but didn’t see a return of the green arrow.

Defensively the only return came in the form of a clean sheet from Faes. A bonus clean sheet given it was the Man City boys I had pinned my hopes on.

Luis Diaz was dropped to the bench and came on for a lovely 1 pointer.

Palmer returned in his first week in my team – nothing special but I know there’ll be more from him.

Saka hauled with 16 points, a goal and 2 assists and my only regret is not captaining him. He’s now flagged after international duty which is frustrating given some good fixtures ahead. I’ll hold out to find out more before making any decisions – I’d rather keep him for the weeks ahead.

Upfront, Haaland blanked again which is most annoying given I captained him (like so many others). Hindsight makes it easy so say I should have picked Saka but we all know what Haaland can do.

It was nice to see Solanke keep the returns coming – he’s getting quite consistent.

Gameweek 8 team and transfers

I took a hit last week to bring Palmer and Rogers in for Mitoma and Eze. I think it’ll pay off long term but wasn’t the most fruitful in week 1. It leaves me with 1 free transfer and I’m inclined to roll it.

My main target is Mbeumo so maybe Luis Diaz to him makes sense. I just don’t think it’s the week to do it – Liverpool have Chelsea at home and Brentford have Man United away – both teams that give up chances so it’s anyone’s guess who’ll do best. The main difference is Mbeumo is on penalties and sure to play.

Like last week, my Fulham players are benched. Fulham have been strong and home advantage shouldn’t be sniffed at so I may switch Smith-Rowe for Rogers. It’s a tricky one and I feel I’m damned if I do, damned if I don’t. We’ll see where I land on the deadline.

Captaincy is on Haaland again, for now I am keeping faith. Wolves have been shocking defensively so it’s an obvious choice. If he hadn’t blanked the last 2 weeks, it wouldn’t even be a question.

Conclusion

I may roll my transfer but I’ve been looking at Mbeumo for weeks now and I’ve missed out on a number of goals of his. I’m not sure I can hold out much longer so any signs that Diaz isn’t starting and I’ll be making the switch,
