FPL GW26 Gameweek Roundup

Gameweek Insights: Unpacking Top Performances, Unexpected Hauls, and FPL Strategies

I dissect and indulge in the stupendous, the unexpected, and sometimes, the downright disappointing performances of our FPL players. In my review, I will spotlight top performers, underperformers, key moments, and some intriguing insights.

The Top Dogs Show Their Might

Yet again, Salah** proves to be nearly invincible on the field. With an overwhelming 71.96% ownership, a staggering 8,151,598 managers had him selected. He lived up to the expectations by scoring a goal that exceeded his expected goals (xG) of 0.21, securing his supporters a handsome 14 points. Notably, Mbeumo matched Salah’s stats, bagging 14 points, but under much lower ownership of just 37.43%.

In the ‘more than just one start club’, Isak emerged a star player, bagging a solid 13 points with two goals against his xG of 0.97. And let’s not forget João Pedro and Cunha, who surprised us with a points haul of 12 and 9, respectively.

The Underwhelming and Overhyped

As FPL Managers, we often face those heart-sinking moments when our high-ownership players underperform. This week, Palmer with his soaring 60.78% ownership disappointed, with zero goals against an xG of 0.43 and just two points. Another underperformer included Aina with 0 goals and a pitiful zero points return despite his solid 28.62% ownership.

Discipline and Bonus Points

On the disciplinary front, only Kerkez and Milenković from thhe pool of most owned players, noted yellow cards, which slightly affected their scores. Our highest bonus points earners were the ever-reliable Salah, Mbeumo, Isak, and surprisingly, João Pedro, all earning 3 additional points for their exceptional performances.

Lurking In the Shadows – Underrated Yet Valuable

Some lesser-owned players carved out impressive performances, such as **Flekken**, who secured an impressive 7 points despite just 8.24% ownership.

Mini League Mayhem

For mini-league enthusiasts, **Muñoz** served as a fascinating talking point, with his 1 goal, 13 points, and just 7.78% ownership. He emerged as a real differential this Gameweek!
