FPL GW25 Gameweek Roundup

The Expected and the Unexpected: FPL GW25 Gameweek Highlights

The game of who to choose and who to drop played out as expected, leading to some surprises, disappointments, and heated mini-league debates. Here is my roundup of this week’s action. Let’s dive headfirst into the week’s top performers and key moments that literally caused seismic shifts in the FPL community.

The ‘Holy Grail’ Classic: Mohamed Salah

Living up to the respect of over 71.67% ownership, the man, the myth, the legend – Salah proudly stands at the summit of performers with a total of 20 points this gameweek. Outperforming his xG of 1.30, Salah slammed home 2 goals in 180 minutes, lived free of disciplinary issues and bagged 3 bonus points as well. Salah’s Double Gameweek performance is an FPL manager’s delight!

The Overlooked Gem: Watkins

Owned by just over 20.55% of teams, Watkins has shone brilliantly this gameweek. His 2 goal haul outperformed his xG of 1.00, amassing 15 points. A strong shout-out to all the smart managers who had him in their squad!

The Underperformer: Virgil

There is no sugarcoating this one – Virgil (23.28% ownership) had a disappointing week, scraping together only 2 points despite starting both matches and spending a hefty 180 minutes on the pitch. His lackluster performance was further highlighted by the Yellow Card he picked up, leaving many FPL managers heartbroken.

Notably, despite a whopping 63.08% and 57.78% ownership respectively, Palmer and Isak proved to be this week’s biggest disappointments, returning a meagre 2 points each having played the full 90 minutes. Those managers who backed these players had their fingers burned this week!

The Attacking Maestro: Wood

On the attacking end, Wood gave his 44.02% owners something to cheer for, scoring 1 goal against an xG of 0.14, and adding 3 bonus points to his tally. His 9-point haul makes him one of the top defenders this week.

Eye-Catching Performances: Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Díaz

It’s fair to say that Trent and Luis Díaz performed above and beyond this gameweek with their respective performances. Despite only having a xG of 0.20, Trent managed to get one past the goalkeeper. He played a whopping 128 minutes contributing to his double-figure 13-point haul. Diaz further defied the odds with a goal from his low xG of 0.16, bagging a solid 13 points.

The Surprise Element: Flekken

Flekken, with a modest ownership of 6.81%, proved to be the unsung hero. He encountered no disciplinary issues, and to the delight of his managers, he received a sweet 3 bonus points, accumulating 10 points in total.

Until next week, keep your tactics sharp, your chin up, and may your arrows be green! Let me know how you got on over on Instagram
