Cole Palmer: Keep or Sell in FPL?

The debate is heating up—should you hold onto Cole Palmer (£11.2m) in Fantasy Premier League or cash in before his price drops further? After blanking in three of his last four games, over 108,000 managers have already moved him on. But is it too soon to hit the panic button?

Palmer’s Recent Dip in Form

Palmer has only managed a single assist and 12 points in his last four outings against Brighton, West Ham, Man City, and Wolves. That’s a far cry from the huge 52 points he racked up in those same fixtures earlier in the season. Back then, he was a must-have. Now? Not so much.

A big factor in his struggles is his change in role. With Nicolas Jackson (£7.7m) sidelined until April, Palmer has occasionally played further forward—a shift that has actually hurt his influence in the Bonus Points System (BPS). His BPS score against Brighton (12) was his third-worst of the season. Less bonus points, less appeal.

Is Palmer Still Getting Chances?

Despite his recent struggles, Palmer remains the second-highest scoring player in FPL, only behind Mohamed Salah (£13.7m). He’s still a premium asset, but his goal involvement has dropped significantly.

Palmer was involved in zero big chances over the last four Gameweeks—compared to his season totals of 17 big chances and 18 big chances created. That’s worrying, especially when mid-priced alternatives like Dango Ouattara (£5.1m) and Leandro Trossard (£6.9m) are thriving.

The Case for Holding Palmer

So, why would you keep him? The fixtures. Chelsea face Southampton and Leicester at home in their next two games—both rank among the worst teams for conceding goals away from home. Plus, Palmer has been incredible at Stamford Bridge, averaging 8.0 points per home match.

More importantly, Chelsea play in Blank Gameweek 29 (BGW29), unlike Liverpool and Newcastle. That alone makes Palmer a strong hold if you’re planning ahead.

The Verdict

While Palmer’s form is concerning, his upcoming fixtures and Chelsea’s presence in BGW29 make him worth holding for now. If he fails to deliver against Southampton and Leicester, though, his status as a must-have player could be up for debate.

For now, patience might be key—but if you’re on Wildcard soon, keeping an eye on his performances will be crucial.
